Making Beef Jerky with the Nesco Food Dehydrator

Product Review: Nesco FD-75PR 700-Watt Food Dehydrator

If you're looking for a good food dehydrator, I suggest the Nesco FD-75PR.  This dehydrator has a top-mounted fan and works great.  I comes with 5 trays, but can be expanded to up to 12 trays.  It also comes with two fruit roll trays for drying liquefied fruit, and two clean-a-screen flexible screens used for drying small items such as herbs, spices and potpourri.

I also purchased the Nesco BJX-5 American Harvest Jumbo Jerky Works Kit.   This jerky gun makes it easy to make great tasting jerky from ground meat.

Watch my videos below to learn a little more about the Nesco FD-75PR Dehydrator, and see how to make jerky with the Nesco Jerky Works Kit.

Here are some links to the dehydrator and jerky kit on Amazon.com:

Doomsday Preppers

Premieres Tomorrow at on the National Geographic Channel

Tomorrow night, the National Geographic Channel is premiering a new series called "Doomsday Preppers".  I noticed that one of my favorite preppers from YouTube, SouthernPrepper1 is in one of the featured videos about a Wood-Powered Car.  This series should provide some great information and be very entertaining.

Welcome to BudgetPrepper.com

Welcome

The main purpose of this blog is to share information about how to prepare for events beyond our control; events such as unemployment, financial hardship, natural disasters, man-made disasters, and any other circumstance that life might throw our way.

Preppers are basically people that store extra food, water and supplies in case an emergency or hardship arises.  According to Wikipedia, "A prepper is an individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances".

Some people lump preppers into the same category as hard-core survivalists, and in some cases, that may be true.  As for me, I just want to make sure that I can take care of my family if "any change in normal  circumstances" occurs.

I first began researching and thinking about all of this a few years ago when the economy started to take a nose dive.  I began to wonder how long I would be able to take care of my family if I lost my job.  We also had a series of natural disasters that left people without electricity and water for several days.

As a father and a husband, taking care of my family is my sacred duty and first priority.  In this blog, I will share with you what I already know about prepping and any new information that I discover.  I hope you find this information useful.
